The infinite content system: templatize your outliers
Big creators remake their best videos over and over with small changes. That's not lazy. It's a system.
Did you notice that big business creators recreate their best videos over and over, with small changes? That's not lazy. It's a system.
I call it templatizing your outliers. It has three steps.
Step 1: find the outlier
An outlier is a video that did about five times the channel's normal views. It doesn't have to be yours. If you don't have one yet, find one in your niche or in a nearby one. The point is proof: real viewers already chose this video over everything else they could have watched.
Step 2: break it down
Not the topic. Break down the parts that can be reused:
- The idea type. Is it a myth-buster, a step-by-step, a breakdown, a comparison?
- The title format. The structure with the topic removed.
- The thumbnail format. The layout, the expression, how much text.
- The structure of the video. How it opens, how it progresses, where the payoff is.
Write that out as a template.
Step 3: double down
Make new videos with the same template and a different topic. Same title format, same thumbnail style, same structure. Post it, check the data, adjust.
Why most people don't do this
Most people get one video that works, and then they go make something completely different. That's throwing away the data. YouTube just told you what your audience responds to, and you ignored it.
The channels that grow treat a winning video like a recipe. You don't change the recipe. You change the topic.
This is also what stage three of channel growth is about. If you're not sure where you are, read the four stages of YouTube growth.
